If you call yourselves Bathers fans and you still haven't got a copy of both Tron Theatre Glasgow 1999 and the superb recording of the Kelvingrove Baby Tour 1997, you really don't know what you are missing. I would like to publicly thank Jimmy for his work on both cds. Many official recordings by many top artists do not sound this warm and alive. Cheers !

WOW!!! Thanks Mon........I wish more people would write these comments to the guestbook. A few people have written to me about these CDs and they have went down very well indeed. Some of the regulars have not yet responded though which is a shame as these 2 are something special in terms of performance and sound quality.......the best yet........and NO this isnt sales patter it`s just FACT!

Well there`s another advantage of using NOCHEX (as well as the fact you dont have to write a cheque, buy a stamp, or go to the post office). A customer in Leeds sent an order via NOCHEX at 0950hrs yesterday and his 5 cds were delivered to him this morning!!!!! Ok ok so I`m blowing my own trumpet again sorry.

Hey Jimmy , back in July you told us that the new album wouldn't be on Wrasse , any news on what label it will be on?Plus , what prompted the break up with Marina ? Come on , it was a long time ago now. Also, what's the gen on the CGT Junior ? Happy Christmas to all Bathers fans!!!!!

From: Jimmy Email: <jimmysmith@btinternet.com>
Posted on: Saturday, December 21, 2002, 02:32 PM

I have no idea what the new label will be and I wrote to chris recent to ask when Junior was due but so far I havent heard. The girl on the front of the KB baby cover......Vivien I think her name is.........she took a shine to chris when the band were in Germany and the boss of marina was none too happy as he thought he was going to snag her. This led to a fight and the demise of the Marina relationship. You can read all about it in Tequila Mockingbird.......a detailed account of the event!!!!! Have a cool yule everyone!

I would like to wish all Bathers fans a wonderful Christmas time and a very happy new year. I very especially want to thank Jimmy for keeping the dream alive and for putting together some of the best musical moments in the year that is now nearly over. It's a Black Christmas here in Galicia but there's always some light out there... and its providers.

Hi. Back again after coming to terms with fatherhood for the second time (as far as I know). This time it's a boy called Luis. I can't wait for the new album, my poetry book in Galician will finally see the light next week inlcuding thank you's to both The Bathers and Jimmy and yes, it's me the one who signs a Kate Bush related letter to the editor in the March issue of Mojo. Previous letters about Chris Thomson and The Bathers were unbelievably ignored. Of course I am a Kate Bush fan as well. I adore her.

Mon I have a cd of KB sitting at her piano at home which I just came across recently....nowhere near the quality of those fabulous Bathers cds of course :o) but you may like it. I found it a bit too dreary. Send me a mail to remind me on Monday or through the week.

From: Mon Email: <luna27mon@hotmail.com>
Posted on: Monday, March 03, 2003, 10:37 PM

Thanks Jimmy. I hope this works as a reminder. Let me add a couple of things. First: I tried the video cd on a DVD player. The sound is SUPERB ! The only problem is that I cannot synchronize it to the image. Any ideas or it would be wiser waiting for the DVD release ? ; ) Second: Last Saturday I met Bob Wratten, ex-Field Mice, ex-Northern Picture Library and now a really brilliant Trembling Blue Star(s). I do think Trembling Blue Stars is another band to be discovered. No wonder they do not have a record label right now...

Mon.........I have been thinking about this and the only thing that sort of makes sense is the possibility that your machine is set to ntsc (I think they call it REGIONS). So if that was the case the video portion might be running at 30fps instead of 25 accounting for the sync problem. Can you manually set your dvd to PAL or "region free". If you dont seem to be able to make it region free then go to vcdhelp.com and look for a "crack" for your model that will enable it to be region free (this is done using codes you enter into your handset). Apart from that I dont actually own a DVD player so I`m lost. I certainly wont be making any more as theres a lot of incompatibility hassles with them.

I am uploading a real media file of WEEM ROCK MUSE recorded at the Tron in 97 from the cd of the same name. This is the VIDEO.....or rather this is A video of that performance and it looks good for 12mb......it was encoded using a new encoder from Canopus. Keep your eye on the video page it should be up later today.

Welcome Monica , to the fold . Allow me to take a wild guess at answering your question ..........no. The Bathers don't do anything anymore sadly. The West End festival in Glasgow was always a good bet for a gig but they don't even do that anymore. Cheer Up ! When i win 10 million on the lottery im giving Chris two mill so he can go back to concentrating on making classic , under-rated albums of love-lorn genius....Mwhhaaaaaa !!! Just came across The Bathers when I stumbled on a site called UKSounds.com while I'm supposed to be at home here in San Francisco working on boring high tech blather. What a great voice! And the lyrics. Why is this guy not making records and touring? I'm wondering if I'll be able to find his stuff here in the U.S.
